So this week grinds to an end. QT2 had three excitable 15 year olds round on Tuesday for a “sleepover” and to wreck the blow up spa because one of them got in with his laminated bus pass in his pocket! It’ taken until yesterday to clean all the little blue paper/adhesive bits out and refill it! Plus they ordered pizza at 10.30pm and trod it into the carpet and thanks to Coca Cola max they didn’t actually go to sleep but talked all night so no-one in the house slept (QT1 had gone out to a friends house for the night, how sensible!). We went out to the pub up the road for the evening but as we had to work the next day an all-nighter wasn’t an option! At 5am on Weds am as I had just got to sleep QT2 knocks on the door asking if I would like a cup of tea! Strange how that has never occurred to him before at a sensible hour. Ho Hum.
So work has been really difficult this week and was capped off by an emergency on a file yesterday which took all afternoon to deal with and meant that I had to meet with the client at 6pm to approve and sign a document. All good fun I guess.
Last night I was just too tired for good home cooked food so we bought the premium brand curry feasts from Sainsburys (as our nearest supermarket). Yum. And only £15 for the two boxes! Korma and Tikka Masala for the QTs, TM for me and Jalfrezi for him indoors (who was away at the police station with clients until quite late) plus very generous rice, half a naan bread each and 2 bhajiis each. Sorted!
I should say that eldest daughter is away for the weekend at her best friend’s sister’s wedding in Birmingham, meal out yesterday night, round of golf this morning (very nice!) and wedding/reception/disco this afternoon/tonight. I never went to a wedding until I was in my 30’s. I think it shows that young womens’ attitudes are coming back round to the point where marrying (and even having babies, shock horror!) is ok when you are still young enough to enjoy life and have a life afterwards. Indeed one young woman in the office who recently got engaged said she is looking forward to having children! Rather different to the emancipated career women of my early working life.
Today myself, the QTs and a friend of QT1 are off to a local music festival. Not the camping sort but still two outdoor stages (and the bandstand!) as well as a large indoor stage. Most of the acts will be local bands with some names that you think “I might have heard of them once”, “what was that song they did?” or “did they have a hit 20 years ago?”. It will be fun because partner is on call so he is already at the police station and we will be going en masse on the bus. Maybe I can get a group pass and save some money as pay day isn’t until Monday. Plus I shall lug a huge picnic and bottles of water so that we don’t need to spend lots on the very lovely but rather pricey world food and farmers special burger stalls. I might run to a couple of pints of ale as I am not driving however. Although the boss is going to be there. Perhaps we will miss each other in the crowds!
So there you have it. The week in a nutshell. This is going to be my unfortunate lot, to write you an essay every weekend because I don’t have time to do it daily. Sorry!
