At present I guess I am posting these blogs for my own satisfaction. QT1 tells me its because I don’t post often enough and don’t promote the site. That is the hazard of being a working mother with kids!
So Older Daughter is winding down the days until she returns to University. She will be in a shared house this year (no doubt a shock after the all inclusive rent of Hall!) and of course now she has a double bed which has necessitated buying new fitted sheets, mattress protector etc and will need a new double duvet (suggestions for cheap versions gratefully received). As well as a whole range of dry food starters (baked beans, brunch bars and mugshots anyone? Thank goodness for Poundland and Aldi!) and of course toiletries because to be fair the student loan covers the rent and not a great deal else especially down south.
QT2 has his first hockey tournament of the year on Sunday for Leicester Mens Hockey U16. Big batch of cupcakes will be needed, all sales of snacks etc are in aid of charity.
QT1 has thrown herself into her extremely creative A levels which means scrapbooks, pens, scissors and various books and papers all strewn to the four winds (mostly the lounge floor!) but she is being incredibly conscientious and detailed with the homework so everybody applaud her please. It’s like she grew up overnight so xxxxxx. Maybe QT2 will take a leaf out of her book. The C Grades he got in his early science modules were a start but much more grafting needed to realise his potential. Why is it so difficult to impress on moody teenagers how important this stage of their education is if they don’t want to end up on the scrap heap?
Plug here for the Maggi bake in the bag. Older daughter has made some amazing dinners this summer holiday using chicken breast or turkey breast chopped into strips, chopped peppers, onions, mushrooms, carrots etc and perfectly lovely taste every time. Add rice, cous cous and some green veg, great and reasonably easy to make family meal. Garlic and herb I think is our favourite but there are loads to choose from and you can get them for other meat and for sausages as well.
Oh well TTFN lunchtime at work is well and truly over
