Hello everyone
Here I am, only 6 months late, to resume my posts. A lot of water under the bridge since then!
Oldest daughter is going to graduate in July, as a qualified teacher!! Hopefully with a job to go to. But she’s going to stay down on the south coast with her boyfriend which is a tiny bit sad as it’s a long way each way for visiting (although near to my sister so maybe two birds with one stone…)
QT1 is studying stage management as she wished and doing rather well at it. The course is very full on but she is achieving good grades. Although the minimal student loan is scary given that she is living in Kent and the loan was several hundred pounds short of the rent let alone any money to live on. The job she had locally to her accommodation was not suitable as it was too many hours late at night and on the weekend when she has to be doing work and rehearsals so I couldn’t blame her for giving it up. We could really do with some connections to get her started with work experience in the holidays, shame all our connections are in the legal or sporting arenas.
QT2 is still on course to go to study in America for 4 years (basically to play rugby, the studying is an afterthought!). Not that this is sufficient to make him behave at college or pull his finger out with homework, coursework etc and he is currently on report (in 6th form, I thought I had left those days of bag over head at parents’ meetings behind). The main difficulty being that the academy rugby which he had last year was taken away at the end of last academic year to another college and there has been no rugby at all this year, in spite of promises. So he has had zero incentive and whilst the college thinks he should be mature about it and “it’s life” that doesn’t work for a kid whose whole life is his rugby and (hopefully) rugby career.
Still stressful then but I am sure that when he has gone away as well in August/September we will miss him sorely. I shan’t miss washing the kit, however!
