Hello my lovelies,
After a long absence here I am again. As promised, a long time ago, I would like to showcase our lovely online business, Cottage Cards.
I run the business with my lovely daughter, QT1, who is presently studying for a Masters Degree in Stage Management and is currently on a three month internship.
We sell lovingly handmade greetings cards for all occasions, all handmade by me using decoupage. We also sell hand-decoupaged wooden coasters, with heatproof varnish.
I had made and sold the cards for some years (mainly at church and school fetes or craft fairs), However during the original lockdown in 2020, like everyone else, we had no choice but to move online. Originally that meant improving our Facebook page and trying to make it accessible and interesting. Then we discovered Local Art and Craft. UK.
LA&C is an amazing online platform where we now have our shop: http://www.localartandcraft.uk/seller/cottage-cards. You can list up to 20 items for sale for free and they never take commission. For sellers who wish to have more perks and assistance from the administration of the platform (all human, no bots!) there are paid memberships. They also have a Print Studio and, indeed, in our shop are some printed greetings cards using my photos of amazing sunsets and coastal scenes.
Since we moved our shop onto LA&C we have certainly become better known and have made more sales than ever before. This was helped by the fact that I had 6 months furlough from May to October 2020 so I was able to really work at the Cottage Cards business almost solidly with very capable assistance from my Social Media Manager and webmaster, QT1.
I must say that I do look forward to the day when proper face to face Craft Fairs start again because I like to interact with our customers. In the meantime we do have the Cottage Cards Artists and Crafters Fair taking place online over the weekend of 29-31 May 2021.
You can check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/artistsandcraftersfair. We have 28 talented sellers signed up, all selling original handmade art or craft, made in the UK. You can already see almost all of the introductory posts about the sellers, in the Group.
Why not join the Group and put the event in your diary, we are looking forward to seeing as many lovely buyers over the weekend as possible.
