hand made cards

Here is a very brief selection of hand made cards mostly made by me but some by my daughters.  Obviously recently we mostly made Christmas cards but I stock a great selection of occasions cards (birthdays,  weddings,  new job, retirement, new baby etc) and often make “commissions” to order for work colleagues (eg 80 year old mother likes cats and gin!).  Most of the materials come from either The Works (discount book and craft shop),  Tiger (discount Scandinavian shop in town) or a fantastic craft shop in our town called Osbornes.  All our decoupage and lovely toppers come from there.  Recently they had offers of a load of materials in a plastic bag for £15 or more recently £10.  You receive materials worth around 3 times as much as the bag price but the downside is you can’t really see what’s in there and also you do often get several items that you wouldn’t use in a hundred years!  The luck of the draw.  We charge £1.50 for the small square decoupage,  £2 for larger cards and £2.50 for special large cards.  We usually offer multibuys.  If anybody has any thoughts or ideas on pricing,  attraction value or any other constructive criticism it would be gratefully received.

Getting old/holidays

I know I am old now.  Next week I will be 52.  That’s not old in itself.  But my baby (QT2) is applying for 6th form places.  QT1 is already in 6th form.  Older Daughter is in her 2nd year of Uni.  Where DID all those years go?!

On a more pleasant note we went to Cornwall in our half term (it didn’t seem to be anyone elses’!) minus Older Daughter who doesn’t get half term at Univ. Continue reading

Macaroni cheese with a difference

In the past I have literally made jams and chutneys from scratch using a huge old fashioned jam kettle and spending hours panicking in the kitchen with a jam thermometer.  Continue reading
